PBBG Warp operates a custom built and fairly unique advertising system. This guide is intended to provide advertisers (and potential advertisers) with the information they need to promote their games on PBBG Warp.
You can create and modify advertising campaigns and monitor their performance by clicking the advertising link located at the very bottom of every PBBG Warp page, next to the contact link.
In order to begin advertising on PBBG Warp you will need to deposit funds in your advertising account. You can do this by clicking the deposit funds link on your main advertising page. Funds can be deposited using PayPal, and you will receive bonus funds for larger deposits. The funds that you deposit are usually available immediately after your transaction is complete.
Now that you have funds in your account you can create an advertising campaign by clicking the add a campaign link on your main advertising page. These are the things you may have to enter for your campaign:
New campaigns must be reviewed by an admin before going online if they employ media, promotional text, or external target URLs. Otherwise your campaign will be online immediately. When creating a campaign it can take up to ten minutes for it to go live on the website.
PBBG Warp allows you to place a CPM bid on various advertising slots around the website. CPM means for cost per thousand -- it is the amount that you pay for one thousand views of your advertisement.
The auction system is similar to eBay in that the auction winner pays the amount bid by the next-highest bidder. This means that you can enter your true cut-off CPM price for your bid without unnecessarily paying extra for your views. In the case of a bidding tie, both advertisers pay the same rate.
Some advertising slots display more than on campaign in them. In this case the top several ads are displayed in order of bid. Each campaign only pays the amount bid by the campaign below it in the bidding list, and in the case of a tie both campaigns pay the same amount.
You can bid as little as $0.01 CPM, and the smallest bid increment is also $0.01 CPM.
When your campaign has been approved it will show up in your active campaigns list on your advertising page. Your active campaigns will be displayed throughout the website as long as you have a balance in your advertising account and as long as their maximum daily views haven't been met.
Your campaigns will continue to appear in your active campaigns list even if your advertising balance runs out or if their maximum daily views have been met. In these cases they will be put back online when you fund your account, or when the next day arrives.
You can modify aspects of active campaigns using the modify campaign link. Changes to your media, promotional text, or target URL will need to be reviewed by an admin before they are brought online. When modifying a campaign it can take up to ten minutes for changes to propagate throughout the website.
You can view the performance history of active and expired campaigns using the performance history link next to the campaign. By default the past week of history is displayed, but you can adjust the report period to anything you like. Performance history will only appear for dates when the campaign registered one or more view.
Your campaign's performance history will tell you how many views, clicks, and impressions your ad received for each date in the report period. The clicks metric reports the number of viewers who clicked on your advertisement and were brought to your listing or your target URL. The conversions metric reports the number of ad clickers who followed through to visit your website. If your campaign links directly to your website then each click will also register a conversion.
When a campaign has expired it will no longer appear throughout the website, even if you have a balance in your advertising account. You can click the expire now link next for an active campaign to bring that ad offline, which has the effect of setting the campaign's auto-expire date to yesterday.
To bring an expired campaign back online you can click view expired campaigns on your main advertising page and click reactivate campaign next to the desired campaign. You will be brought to the modify campaign page, where you will need to adjust the campaign's auto-expire settings in order to bring it back online.
The balance history link on your main advertising page displays your day-by-day overall account activity. The past two weeks are reported by default, but you can customize the report period. Dates are only displayed in the report if a deposit or ad expense occurred during that day.
Although your bid is for one thousand banner views, you are charged for each individual view on your banner. Your account balance and advertising outlays stored to a high precision, since one view only costs a fraction of one cent. However, when displayed to you your balance is always rounded to two decimal places (i.e. dollars and cents). As a result of this rounding, entries on your balance history and campaign performance reports may occasionally appear to be off by one cent.
Advertising slots that display one campaign at a time rotate campaigns randomly. The rotation weight of each campaign is set according to the projected number of views that the will receive during the day (using the bidding and max daily views data). Advertising slots that display multiple campaigns at a time do not rotate campaigns, and always display in order of maximum bid.
To prevent abuse, each IP address can register a maximum of 250 views, 2 clicks, and 1 conversion per day on each of your campaigns.
